IGNORANCE OF OUR HERITAGE

Ignorance of our Heritage

hello friends,

Let us recall a few shootings sites from a few movies based on Indian History
Today these two will be taken as examples to portray my idea.
Let us begin...
Which monument is this??

Our second example will be this.

Any guesses ??
Alright, let me show you these places in modern time.

Introduction

The places are Shaniwar Wada in Pune and the Amer/Amber fort near Jaipur.
Both of these structures were built for the same purpose but were designed different with respect to factors like weather, culture and materials available in their places respectively.

Due to modern times these structures are irrelevant and no longer serve the purpose they were originally built for.
These forts are now icons of any city/town and portray the culture and history of the particular area.

Meanwhile as foreigners prefer to spend their holidays in India, the tourism industry contributes a lot to the Indian economy.Being more precise they are the only source of bread and butter for a few places and the local economy revolves round their points of interest.
Many people have their source of livelihood only relating to handicraft and heritage history. While many of
us relate to Rajasthan as a very  impressive holiday destination, areas in peninsular India are in a state of
ignorance and are not even maintained.

Media,film industry,popularity and its influences

The famous movie Jodha Akbar is loosely based on Akbar's consort. This is the Amer fort in the background.

Jaisalmer fort was featured in the movie Sonar Kella by Satyajit Ray , the great filmmaker and author. The fort became very famous because of this.

The bollywood movie Bajirao Mastani featured Shaniwar wada and a few more sites in the Deccan Plateau.
Not only was the film a blockbuster but also  the ticket sales shot up by a whopping 40%.

Meanwhile also places like Bibi Ka Maqbara which is bears a striking ressemblance to the Taj Mahal,India's most famous tourist site, was not really known for.
After the movie,M.S Dhoni:The untold story it gained a lot of visitors.
Deccan plateau which has a lot of commercial activity taking place also was home to many dynasties which have left their traces in many places.

Pataleshwar cave in Pune is rock cut cave which dates back to the  8th century when this area was ruled by the Rashtrakuta dynasty. This places remains isolated most of the times.

Conclusion

Though North India receives a lot of tourists and is undoubtedly very beautiful in nature and heritage ,many parts of India are not yet explored upon and are only viewed by a few people.
Photoshoots are being held in places which are now pretty common and lie polluted.
It is a difficult thing to say whether it is good that these category of monuments in this part of India are untouched as they lie unpolluted and are not subjected to vandalism but they are not being exploited to their full potential.
Now whether  word of mouth communication will do the job to persuade people to go to uncommon places or
these places will remain a secret only to locals,no one knows.

Thank you for reading and I hope you can get the message portrayed by this.

Thank you all, stay tuned for updates!!
